sooo...hi!

long time no see. life has been crazy busy but i did want to get back into vidding, so the premise was this: make a crossover for pride. easy enough, right? i've done it before. except apparently it wasn't, and after a month or so of planning, being ready to start, my inspiration for that project vanished and i decided to go with what i'd thought of in the beginning instead: all the gays from my current wip. because pride is never over on this channel.

now, it became more of an aesthetic and hardly any shipping (tho we do have some ships...heh!), but i think it did get me back into vidding. i hope. we'll see.

›› what is this about?

well. uh. vibes?
this isn't chronological At All; not even properly canon, because, well, *footage*. but you've got some of the main characters of the series. and yes, the characters shown are all queer. (and they do have names, i'm just not sharing.)

› the world: a maritime colonial empire made up of a thousand islands; a navy with flying ships, battling pirates; alchemy, only the beginning of the magic at the eager learner's fingertips. a fight for self-determination and freedom. a story about loyalty, liberation, discovery, and questioning authority.

at the beginning of the story:

› the sailor [clara paget], central character – raised in poverty, now a cadet in the navy; she thinks this is the only way she can ever escape the dirt. but she can't close her eyes to the injustice and betrayals forever, and her heart takes over her ambition. dark deeds for a good cause are better than dark deeds in the service of a blood-soaked empire. over time, it's yo-ho a pirate's life for her. bit of a himbo with lots of self worth issues.

› the alchemist [karla crome] – alchemist for the navy (for now) but longs to explore. sheds the chains of the empire's habits and prejudices and delves deeper into the science, the magic, the gory mysticism that is at the core of the world. flirty, self-sacrificial, focussed.

› the pirate [toby stephens] – captain of a pirate crew, infamous and feared; rages against the empire, takes with hands and claws and teeth. loves with his whole heart but can't commit, so when he loses his poet through his own fault, that same heart is set afire with violence. intense, scary, shakespearean.

› the revolutionary [jessie mei li] – alchemist by name, magician by trade, seeks to burn down the empire. leads the alchemist on darker roads and opens doorways to what lies beyond. has no regard for their own safety.

› the poet [santiago cabrera] – lost. noble son of a navy general, heart of a poet and romantic. runs away on a pirate ship as a teen, hired by the pirate. it goes well, until it doesn't.

› the youngling [orlando bloom] – ends up on a pirate ship, falls for his captain. gets away, walks a different path, but the sea and the pirate keep calling.

› the prisoner [sam heughan] – fights for freedom and worker rights. idealist with very enthusiastic fists. is thrown into the furthest corner of hell for it, but he still has friends looking for him.

› the captain [ian mcshane] – navy captain of the sailor's and the alchemist's ship. a dick.


...these are the mains and *some* of the more important characters. the others didn't fit for some reasons or another.


›› how is this queer, why is it for pride? – important question! it's sailor x alchemist endgame, sailor x poet past, pirate x poet past, pirate x youngling crush/unrequited/maybe, and as i said, everyone in here is queer
