Welcome back to Arkham666’s channel, everyone. Today, we are taking a deep and dark dive into the blood-drenched world of cosmic horror and exploring one of FromSoftware's most beloved games, Bloodborne.
At the dawn of a new console generation, Miyazaki and his team were approached by Sony to make a new game for their next PlayStation. The fruit of this labour was a dark, baroque horror-fantasy game that saw the player exploring the city of Yharnam, the ancient Pthumerian tombs beneath it, and battling all kinds of monsters mutated by the cursed blood of the Healing Church.
Over a decade later, this game still sticks out in the minds of Souls fans and gamers of all stripes as a one-of-a-kind, slightly flawed masterpiece that suffers from being locked exclusively to PlayStation and 30 fps. But, as the old Bethesda saying goes when releasing an Elder Scrolls game full of bugs, "Modders will fix it." As such, I had the pleasure of playing this game on my PC in glorious 60 fps thanks to the ShadPS4 emulator, and it was an incredible experience.
As with all Souls games, the story is a mystery that needs to be explored carefully, something that can be be hard to do when almost everything around you is dead set on ending your life. So let's take a slow and steady walk down this dark and winding path together and see if we can't uncover what the hell happened here, and exactly how and why this game, more so than any other, has become the favourite of Souls players.
