Just like when I forgot to record him, Father Gascoigne took me 2 tries to beat, though this time there was less hiding behind tombstones (and much more ill-advised aggressiveness) involved on my part. I didn't know about the "music box trick" the first time around, so I chose not to use it here as well. My (unaltered) weapons and level are also the same.
As for how I survived his wolf-form's tombstone-shattering combo, I have no idea. But just like with Dark Souls, I'm not going to look a gift victory in the mouth. In these games, for me at least, a win is a win is a win. *shrugs*
