After two NGs and now a NG+, I finally managed (or rather, remembered) to collect 3 Thirds of Umbilical Cord and face Bloodborne's true final boss! It only took me 3 tries, which was nice after the brutality of Gehrman.
The (*Lance Bass voice*) "Heartless Angel" ripoff attack wasn't a big deal, aside from temporarily locking my ability to use Blood Vials. Same for the blood rain, which had the same effect. The boss DOES hit reasonably hard and has quite a bit of reach with most of its attacks, but compared to Gehrman's super-tracking rage-inducing combos, it was a comparative walk in the proverbial park.
As for the True Ending... YOU'RE A KID NOW, YOU'RE A SQUID NOW
