WhatKamilReads | Blood Meridian (1985) by Cormac McCarthy | Book Review (no spoilers) @WhatKamilReads | Uploaded June 2016 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
This is my 4th Cormac McCarthy's novel, but it's Blood Meridian that is often described as his masterpiece. On plot level the novel follows historical account of white scalp hunters in late forties and early fifties of XIX century, killing and massacring native villages in Southwestern USA. It’s a novel in which McCarthy’s destroys great romantic myth of "western" embodied and celebrated by many.
