Come along with me as I block my ✨Astraeus Sweater✨
Blocking your knits is such an important step in the process of making a garment for yourself, especially for colourwork designs! Did you know that colourwork stitches won’t lay smoothly without blocking? They need the water or steam from blocking to help them relax and show their true colours (pun intended!)
Blocking is also super helpful for getting the best fit out of your handmade garments. I mentioned in my previous posts about this sweater that it was a snug fit. Well guess what helped me get it to fit better? Blocking! I was able to stretch a few more inches lengthwise and widthwise once it was wet and now I have a near-perfect fit!
