Blender version: 2.78b
Unreal Engine 4 version: 4.16
Steps:
1. Make sure, that your model is made out of multiple parts, which mustn't be connected with each other.
2. Create an armature bone by pressing Shift + A, Armature, Single Bone. We'll use this bone as a root bone, which has bo parrents.
3. Duplicate your root bone an place the new ones on the places of your mesh which you're going to move, when you'll be making an animation.
TIP: You should name your bones before you start messing with anything
4. Then sellect first your mesh, second armature and press Ctrl + P, With Empty groups. Your mesh should now contain empty vertex groups named after your bones.
5. Sellect a vertex group and then inside edit mode of your gun model sellect all vertices, which should be moved when you move your bone with the same name as your vertex group.
6. Repeat this process with on all other bones, but with the root bone sellect all vertices except the ones, that are already asigned to other groups.
7. Now you can freely animate your gun movement and export it's animations to UE4. Have fun!
