Blanche: The Rise of Grimdark is a new authorised biography of the legendary artist and art director that defined the worlds of Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, and delivered a consistent stream of incredible Games Workshop art for the past 40 years.

Authors John Wombat and Ruth Moreira worked closely with John and Lin Blanche to curate an outstanding and meaningful collection of Blanche’s finest art, along with a broad range of contributions from GW colleagues like Rick Priestley, Tuomas Pirinen, and Ian Miller.
This book gives John Blanche the chance to share his perspective on the history of Games Workshop that he helped drive; a voice that has until now been largely silent in the weighty publications about the development and history of Warhammer.
