Look, we all love the sound of the Yamaha CS-80, but it's not the only synth that can make Vangelis-type sounds. Actually, I think it's kind of sad that most people who buy a CS-80 or CS-80 software synth only do it to play Vangelis stuff on it! It's a lot more than that!

However, having recently regained faith in Arturia, I bought their new Jup-8v (the new version) and decided to prove a point. I programmed some lovely Vangelis-y sounds on it and using the JP-8's split function, I made to patches to perform the intro to (of course) Blade Runner....

Patch 1:
Lower - Noise taiko sound
Upper - Flute

Patch 2:
Lower - Strings
Upper - CS Brass.

Also, in my usual style, I prefer to use the software as a Jupiter-8. In other words, I implement the hardware limitations of the original and don't do anything that the real Jupiter-8 couldn't do. I feel that this method of work is stimulating to the creative process, rather than having endless possibilities, you work with what you've got.

Enjoy,
