Every year staff from the Pocatello Field Office head down the Blackfoot River to repair four cattle fence crossings by removing moss, ensuring the boat passage signs are intact and raising the fences out of the water to prevent snags. The fence crossing started decades ago to prevent cattle from migrating up and down the river corridor to help with riparian issues and provide recreationists a more serene floating and camping experience.
