On December 18, 1971, President Richard Nixon signed the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act into law which became the cornerstone for the BLM's Wild Horse and Burro Program. We explored the history of Idaho's wild herds and talked with some of the ranching families with whom they’ve shared the range.
