Three handles now attached to gavel heads. Black walnut blanks shaped into hexagons using my table saw jig. Bored out to accept 6mm by 250mm steel tube and installed with Starbond five minute epoxy.
Black walnut heads cut out on bandsaw and shaped by sanding. Drilled out to accept handles glued in place. Maple inserts in heads patterned with laser and epoxied in place.
Sanded to 320 grit and then used Ack’s Sanding Sealer to stabilize some tear out. Finished sanding to 400 grit, then Ack’s Abrasive Paste and Ack’s Polish/Restoring Paste.
Overall dimensions: 11-1/4” long, 2-3/8” wide, 4-1/2” deep.
Handle only dimensions: 8-3/4” long, 1-1/4” large diameter, 11/16” small diameter.
