Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry is an action-adventure game developed and published by Ubisoft. Originally released in 2013 as a downloadable expansion to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag before receiving a standalone release in 2014, it is set in the mid-18th century Caribbean, primarily across the streets and seas of Saint-Domingue. The game follows Adéwalé, a formerly enslaved man who rose to become Edward Kenway's quartermaster and a skilled Assassin in his own right. Shipwrecked and stripped of his resources, Adéwalé becomes deeply entangled in the brutal realities of the Atlantic slave trade, ultimately dedicating himself to liberating enslaved people and dismantling the plantation system that sustains it.
