In this pronunciation lesson, I’m teaching the BLACK CAT /æ/ vowel and how it’s different from the RED PEPPER /ɛ/ sound. These two vowel sounds are extremely similar, and for many English learners, the Black Cat sound doesn’t exist in their first language. That’s why simply “listening harder” isn’t enough—you need to train your ears and your mouth to work together.
In this video, we focus on how small, intentional changes in jaw position and mouth shape create clear sound contrast. You’ll practice hearing and producing both sounds through guided repetition, minimal pairs, and real phrases so you can start using them confidently in everyday speech.
