The amusing theory put out by paleontologists and biologists who intended to get their names in light and grab the naïve crowd’s attention was that dinosaurs never went extinct. The headlines read that the dinos didn’t go extinct because birds are dinosaurs and doves and eagles are still around. This usage of the word ‘extinction’ in the context of ‘dinosaurs’ and ‘birds’ is irrational.
