This video shows the most basic binding trim used in car upholstery. Usually, the binding strips made out of vinyl, leather, fabric, etc. are stretchy thin strips. Not too thick strips are easier to sew and handle.
These trims are used as decorative being sewn down along the edge of a carpet piece or another piece we want to reinforce or not let some thread ends fray.
It can also be used to attach to pieces of vinyl/leather, etc. together in order to give shape to some items, such as bags, wallets, suitcases, etc.
