On September 16, 2024, Big Boy #4014 made a maintenance stop in McNeil, Arkansas before continuing its journey to Texarkana, AR/TX by way of Stamps, AR.
The Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotives were made by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) in the early 1940's. They were in service until 1962. Of the 25 that were built, 8 survive, but only one, Big Boy #4014, is in operating condition. It was first preserved by the Southern California chapter of the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society at the Railgiants Train Museum in Pomona, CA until 2013 and then re-acquired by Union Pacific, which further restored the locomotive and placed it in excursion service.
This program premiered on the Public Access Television Channel at the PEGASYS Community Media Center in Ithaca, NY as part of the series Over the Shoulder.
