A playthrough of Wisdom Tree's 1991 unlicensed Christian themed platformer for the NES, Bible Adventures.
Bible Adventures was the first game to come from Wisdom Tree, a Color Dreams subsidiary that was established to peddle bootleg NES cartridges to the God-fearing masses.
It features three games, each based on a Bible story:
0:14 Noah's Ark
Noah needs to collect all the animals on God's shopping list before the flood comes.
40:30 Baby Moses
Jochebed has to get her son Moses out of Egypt after the Pharoah orders all male Hebrew children killed.
47:27 David and Goliath
David tends to his flock before climbing a mountain to pick a fight with Goliath.
The three games are built on the same platformer framework. The characters all share the same ungainly jump physics, slippery movement, and the ability to carry several times their own weight on their heads. It's like playing as Luigi from Super Mario Bros. 2, except now he's drunk, every surface is coated in ice, and every miserable level looks like the last. The only fun comes from chucking baby Moses into the river.
The box art is cool, at least.
Bible Adventures isn't fun to play nor nice to look at, but it somehow sold well enough to enable the grifters at Wisdom Tree to continue their efforts. How nice for them.
