I'm in love with this woman.
I don't think I can add anything else.
This movie is FANTASTIC. I mean, it's horrible, because the story and what was done to these poor women is horrible... but the movie itself is great! And I usually hate thrillers. Needless to sat Tab was gorgeous and her aussie accennt is so damn cute *-*
Can't wait to watch Anyone You Want and I really really want a Legend of the Seeker season 3 now :( I miss that show so bad!
I would settle for a couple of movies too... but I just need something! I'm afraid the new book won't satisfy me.

I started working on this yesterday evening... Ive been having a lot of ideas for videos (LotS & non) &, of course, this wasnt one of them. I just heard the song after a long time & thought that it could fit.
I couldnt finish/start any of the vids I wanted... so I thought Id use this as an experiment to try new fx.
I kinda like it so far... but I dont know if I should finish it. Its taking A LOT of time & I dont know if, with school & all, I have it. I dunno... you decide =)
The concept is similar to Time of Dying... a cast video about their sufferings & struggles, but, instead of focusing on ALL the good guys, its mostly about the main ones of both LotS & the SoT series that have appeared in the show.

Inside the snow globe on my fathers desk, there was a penguin wearing a red-and-white-stripe scarf. When I was little my father would pull me into his lap and reach for the snow globe. He would turn it over, -letting all the snow collect on the top, then quickly invert it. The two of us watched the snow fall gently around the penguin. The penguin was alone in there, I thought, and I worried for him. When I told my father this, he said, Dont worry, Susie. He has a nice life. Hes trapped in a perfect world.

Alright, so... after starting 4 projects, finishing one that took me two weeks & almost giving up after Vegas decided to kill it the day before I left for my vacation, I was finally able to upload my video for the second challenge for the BOIT Competition.
Im kinda proud of myself, lol. On Friday I was sure I wouldnt re-make a video for the competition... I was so angry, because I was really happy on how the vid I made turned out & I was sure I wouldnt be able to start it again, basically from scratch [I only had the first 13 seconds that I saved on my pc as a preview].
Then I decided SV wouldnt beat me but I also knew I couldnt make that same video again in less than a week. I started another & worked on it very hard. Every spare second I could find I started the pc & managed to finish it yesterday. I really like how it turned out & most of all I experimented with the coloring, trying some new fx as well as new combination & I love it. When I saw how well it went with the colors of the movie & those of Susies outfit I was like Yeah!, lol.
I wont tell you what my first vid was, Id love to finish it one day, but I dont know. Everytime I open the project & see Media Offline everywhere I kind of want to cry :/
Now to this video. We were asked to choose a book we read & make a video out of it, based on the events that happened through it. My first choice was another (guess what?, lol), but after Vegas started being an a** & I watched the movie to this book I remembered how much I loved it.
I have to say, I read a lot, but this book was one of the best (non-classic) I read in a while. The story was heartbreaking but beautiful, I couldnt stop reading it even if I was forced to by natural causes (eating, studying, sleeping...)...
SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE FROM NOW ON.
PLOT: 14 years old Susie Salmon is brutally murdered in 1974 by one of her neighbours. Her family is disraught & even if the body was never found, her murder was sure. But Susie didnt really fade away, she was in her own perfect world watching her family as it fell apart: her siblings living in the shadow of her ghost, while her father, Jack, tried endlessy to catch her killer & her mother, feeling abandoned by him, found some comfort in the detective assigned to the case. In the meantime her assassin continues to fool everyone but Jack & later Lindsay, while Susie tries her best to help them.
The movie as graphically beautiful as it was, it left me with a vague sense of emptiness compared to the book. It was too fast & most importantly the last ten minutes tried to summarize half of the book without really succeeding. The whole atmoshpere of resentment & guilt was not explored at all & the characters despite being played by excellent actors did not have that same depth as the books, they all loved & forgave each other too soon, without the least bit of fault. And well, the fact that the arc of the story remained in what one, two years? Instead of the 10 that allowed the characters growth, both physical & psychological...
I found this song to be perfect to put a remedy to the family-friendly movie & make it look some more like the book. The parts like Where were you when everything was falling apart? were excellent to describe exactly Abby, the mother, feeling abandoned by Jack & seeking comfort in Len & then leaving for years. But the You found me bits also concetrate the powerful feelings the members of the family have for each other, the relationship between Buckley & Jack, Lindsay & her boyfriend Samuel, even Susie, Ray & Ruth the sort of mystical triangle that finds closure almost 10 years after Susies death...
If you have any questions about the interpretation of the lyrics just ask ;) Unfortunately the description can only be so long ... but if youve read the book & watched the movie it shouldnt be too difficult, I hope :).

Achievments w/this vid: my first in months longer than 1.30mins; Its for a competition: I passed the audition round (!!!); Its a Stargate video - a JACK & SAM one! I dont think Ive made one in something like a year! I miss them so much! :(; its for starg8rocks wishlist :) Hope you like it!
Now, to the actual info:
- The following description is mainly for those who are not familiar with the fandom, but also if you dont understand the storyline -
The first challenge is called Rewind & Rewrite. We needed to change one moment in the show & start retelling a different story. I chose to change the outcome of the episode Paradise Lost.
ORIGINAL STORY
An old frenemy of Jack ONeill, Henry, tricks SG.1 into believe a key he has opens the doorway to a cache of superpowerful weapons. Once on the planet he knocks Sam out & jumps through the portal. Jack manages to follow him, but gets stuck with him on some sort of planet with no way back. They spend there a month or so, while Sam & the team desperately try to find a way to bring them back. Sam realizes that theyre not on the planet nor on another one: theyd been transported to the planets moon. Jack is rescued & the team continues with the usual stuffy.
MY STORY
SAM: In my version, Sam never has the breakthrough. After a while the SGC is contacted by the Tokra saying they didnt find any trace of life & Hammond declares Jack MIA. Sam, though, never stops looking for him. She goes on a mission on the Prometheus, but theyre attacked. The crew is abducted & she starts allucinating.
JACK: Henry becomes crazy & paranoid because of some sort of plant he had been eating & Jack is forced to shoot him.
SAM: Sam talks to her fathers hallucination, who tells her she needs to be happy & loved.She saves herself & the crew, but once back home she gives up Jacks search.
JACK: Henry is dying but a ship suddenly appears. Its a Goauld ship. Jack is captured taken to the planet, he tries to escape but hes killed.
SAM: A new commanding officer for SG.1, Cameron Mitchell, is chosen. He convices Sam to join the team once again. At the same time she starts dating Pete, her brohers friend. He proposes, she says yes.
JACK: Having been revived with the sarcophagus, hes being tortured by the Sistem Lord Baal, whos very evil & sadistic xD
SAM: She receives a call her fathers dying. He talks to her about marrying Pete asking her if shes really happy with him. She lies as she sees her father dying. She calls off the wedding because she realized shes still in love with Jack, even though hes probably dead, & cant marry Pete.
After a couple of months shes called back to duty & shes offered to command the Atlantis expedition. She accepts & is gladly welcomed by McKay & Sheppard.
JACK: While hes still being tortured, killed & revived by Baal, the fortress where hes being held is attacked, he is freed from his cell & manages to escape.
SAM: And expedition on the newly built ship Phoenix turns into tragedy when the crew is ambushed by the Wraith. Sam manages to beam everyone to safety & take out the enemy ships, but shes stuck onboard.
JACK: finds his way home, but ...
I hope the rest its clear :) As for the ending you can choose whatever you want. I left it open to interpretation...
Notes:
- This song was perfect in so many ways! Not just for the lyrics. I found the pacing a fantastic one for storytelling. Its constant, not too slow not too fast, simple & gains pathos in the instrumental bit, which is the core of the video. Simply wonderful.
- As for the editing, because I think the purpose of the challenge is more centered around the storytelling abilities, I preferred to keep it simple. The coloring is natural-looking & except a few flashes & the B&W parts, it doesnt have lots of fx in it.
- The voice over at the end is from long before anything in this video ever happened. In the ep Divide & Conquer (4x06 - this video starts from season 6 onwards) Jack & Sam are forced to reveil their feelings for each other.
I didnt leave, because Id have rather died myself, than lose Carter.
Why?
Because I care about her. A lot more than Im suppposed to.
I thought it was perfect for the ending, because it shows how deep Jacks feelings are for Sam & how he cant live in a world without her.
Additional info for the judges in case you dont know the fandom:
- Jack & Sam: they are the main couple of this show. Sam is Jacks second in command & they cant really be together, but their love for each other is ackowledged from season 4, even though the feelings started developing from the beginning.
- SG.1: is the team led by Jack ONeill. They travel through a device, called the Stargate, that allows to travel huge distances in a few seconds. The purpose of the team is to find allies & weaponry to defend themselves from the bad guys.")
