Achievments w/this vid: my first in months longer than 1.30mins; Its for a competition: I passed the audition round (!!!); Its a Stargate video - a JACK & SAM one! I dont think Ive made one in something like a year! I miss them so much! :(; its for starg8rocks wishlist :) Hope you like it!
Now, to the actual info:
- The following description is mainly for those who are not familiar with the fandom, but also if you dont understand the storyline -
The first challenge is called Rewind & Rewrite. We needed to change one moment in the show & start retelling a different story. I chose to change the outcome of the episode Paradise Lost.
ORIGINAL STORY
An old frenemy of Jack ONeill, Henry, tricks SG.1 into believe a key he has opens the doorway to a cache of superpowerful weapons. Once on the planet he knocks Sam out & jumps through the portal. Jack manages to follow him, but gets stuck with him on some sort of planet with no way back. They spend there a month or so, while Sam & the team desperately try to find a way to bring them back. Sam realizes that theyre not on the planet nor on another one: theyd been transported to the planets moon. Jack is rescued & the team continues with the usual stuffy.
MY STORY
SAM: In my version, Sam never has the breakthrough. After a while the SGC is contacted by the Tokra saying they didnt find any trace of life & Hammond declares Jack MIA. Sam, though, never stops looking for him. She goes on a mission on the Prometheus, but theyre attacked. The crew is abducted & she starts allucinating.
JACK: Henry becomes crazy & paranoid because of some sort of plant he had been eating & Jack is forced to shoot him.
SAM: Sam talks to her fathers hallucination, who tells her she needs to be happy & loved.She saves herself & the crew, but once back home she gives up Jacks search.
JACK: Henry is dying but a ship suddenly appears. Its a Goauld ship. Jack is captured taken to the planet, he tries to escape but hes killed.
SAM: A new commanding officer for SG.1, Cameron Mitchell, is chosen. He convices Sam to join the team once again. At the same time she starts dating Pete, her brohers friend. He proposes, she says yes.
JACK: Having been revived with the sarcophagus, hes being tortured by the Sistem Lord Baal, whos very evil & sadistic xD
SAM: She receives a call her fathers dying. He talks to her about marrying Pete asking her if shes really happy with him. She lies as she sees her father dying. She calls off the wedding because she realized shes still in love with Jack, even though hes probably dead, & cant marry Pete.
After a couple of months shes called back to duty & shes offered to command the Atlantis expedition. She accepts & is gladly welcomed by McKay & Sheppard.
JACK: While hes still being tortured, killed & revived by Baal, the fortress where hes being held is attacked, he is freed from his cell & manages to escape.
SAM: And expedition on the newly built ship Phoenix turns into tragedy when the crew is ambushed by the Wraith. Sam manages to beam everyone to safety & take out the enemy ships, but shes stuck onboard.
JACK: finds his way home, but ...
I hope the rest its clear :) As for the ending you can choose whatever you want. I left it open to interpretation...
Notes:
- This song was perfect in so many ways! Not just for the lyrics. I found the pacing a fantastic one for storytelling. Its constant, not too slow not too fast, simple & gains pathos in the instrumental bit, which is the core of the video. Simply wonderful.
- As for the editing, because I think the purpose of the challenge is more centered around the storytelling abilities, I preferred to keep it simple. The coloring is natural-looking & except a few flashes & the B&W parts, it doesnt have lots of fx in it.
- The voice over at the end is from long before anything in this video ever happened. In the ep Divide & Conquer (4x06 - this video starts from season 6 onwards) Jack & Sam are forced to reveil their feelings for each other.
I didnt leave, because Id have rather died myself, than lose Carter.
Why?
Because I care about her. A lot more than Im suppposed to.
I thought it was perfect for the ending, because it shows how deep Jacks feelings are for Sam & how he cant live in a world without her.
Additional info for the judges in case you dont know the fandom:
- Jack & Sam: they are the main couple of this show. Sam is Jacks second in command & they cant really be together, but their love for each other is ackowledged from season 4, even though the feelings started developing from the beginning.
- SG.1: is the team led by Jack ONeill. They travel through a device, called the Stargate, that allows to travel huge distances in a few seconds. The purpose of the team is to find allies & weaponry to defend themselves from the bad guys.")

Just an overview of Richard & Caras relationship, slightly AUish because we all know they dont have *that* kind of feelings for each other, but still... theyre cute :)
So, please, DO NOT bash the couple in any way. You all know I basically ship everyone with everyone, from Richard & Kahlan to Cara & Zedd...

Alright, I wanted to make another vid to the books, but I cant remember half of the things that happen in Blood of the Fold & I didnt have enough clips for a complete TotW one. Thus, I decided for a small teaser, that, if youve read the book, you will (probably - I hope) understand. If you havent, hopefully it will get you interested. Its the first time Ive done anything like this, so, please, bear with me =)
Oh, the date at the end? Its random. I thought that being season 2 about book 2 & 3, maybe season 3 will be based on TotW. 2010 seemed too near... so I went with 2011 =D
Summary [on the back of the book]: The arrival in Aydindril of Drefan Rahl, a brother for Richard, wielder of the Sword of Truth, and Nadine, who believes Richard her betrothed, coincides with a malignant Red Moon. Heralding the awakening of a prophecy that neither Richard nor his lover Kahlan wishes to see come to pass, the Red Moon brings a fatal plague. Finding a cure means seeking out the infamous Temple of the Winds, banished into another dimension over three thousand years ago. It may mean Richard betraying all he holds dear for the sake od he New Worlds future.

Ok, I know I said I wouldnt be vidding for a while because of school, but its useless.
My grades did not improve despite me studying more than Ive ever done in my whole life. I dont know what the hell is happening. I used to read something & know it almost by heart. Now two hours on the same page & I wouldnt be able to tell you the subject.
Anyway, to the video (after the video description Ill just start to rumble, so whoever wants to read is welcome, but its nothing releated directly to it. Just thoughts.)

This show is fantastic & the fact that s2 is on hold because of Andy Whitfields cancer saddens me. He is a truly amazing actor & I wish all the best for him :)
Being the ancient history freak, I could not not watch this show & despite cringing at the sight of gore & the horrible historical inaccurancies, like Barca being a survivor of the punic wars, which happened about 70 years BEFORE Spartacuss revolt O.O, I love it. Great stories, great actors, great characters.
Anyway, I concentrated the video on the character of Spartacus:
from Thracian, to traitor. From recruit to gladiator. From fighter in the pits, to champion of Capua. From slave, to free man.

Why am I back so soon? Easy, I realized that without vidding, I wasnt only cranky about school & other problems, but Id get depressed, so I dont care... f*ck school & everything.
(Well, actually me fixing Vegas was a result of school needing my editing skills for a couple of things, but I thought I might as well start vidding for myself again too).
So, this video took me about 24 hours of work, between yesterday & today & Im kinda proud of how it turned out. I wanted to try new fx as well as vid something challening. This show was the perfect match to this song (that Ive been wanting to vid for ages) & it was just so much fun to make, especially after 2 weeks without vidding.
It also express exactly how I feel right now. Not only because of school, but everything else. The news of a probable cancellation of Legend of the Seeker just made everything worse.
It may seem lame, but the only thing that got me through each week recently was a new episode every Saturday. Ive been in a very bad mood & kinda pushed away every friend I had. Im keeping distance from everyone & dont really feel like going out.
I used to perfectly balance studying, fun with friends, hobbies, sports, love... now its all a huge mess. LOTS was the only thing I looked forward too.
Now I have one month, 4 episodes, left with a purpose. After that? I have no idea.
Why all this fuss about a show?
Have you ever read a book for 5/8/12 hours straight, finished it & your day was brighter all of a sudden? Has your life ever been improved by a laugh born of a stupid television joke? Have you ever cried with joy over something that does not physically belong to you, but you feel yours? Have you ever had your heart ache over the fate of two lovers or a messed up character? Have you ever wished for a happy ending? Have you ever had your heart sting with joy once you got it? - Legend is all that. I watched season 1, read all the books & am now watching season 2. And everytime I feel better.
Everytime I read the last chapter of Confessor I have an idiotic smile on my lips for hours, every time I get the link at midnight for a brand new episode Im all giddy, excited & nervous, everytime I watch Denna I cry & squee, bewildered.
Right now, I have no life. The only bright spot was brought by three characters, played by three amazing actors.")
