Welcome to the Swiss Dolomites! This is the marvellous Alpstein, one of the most unique rock formations of the Swiss Alps! The Alpstein became world famous due to the cover photo of the guest house Aescher on National Geographic. While tourism around the guest house Aescher has been booming a lot since then, many people may not know of its bigger brother up on mount Schäfler. Mount Schäfler is the place to go to witness a perfect glowing sunset with powerful shades of orange and red! Should you stay over night: do not forget to wake up for sunrise, in order to enjoy twice of amazingness!

Some people often say that NOVEMBER is the WORST TIME to travel. But is that really true??? What does November have to offer and what are its down sides? These aspects will be covered in this video. November is a very interesting month, just because everybody does not think so! November is very colorful during the beginning. There will be many colors of Autumn, all the leaves are golden, orange, yellow and red! November is also quite foggy, meaning the weather is not always best and at times it will rain. But during November, you may also have snow fall and enjoy early Christmas vibes. Very nice is the combination of the Autumn colors with snow. November is not good for hiking but still you should visit the Swiss Alps. Go up to some peaks and enjoy the sea of clouds. Up on the peaks, the view is brilliant, while down in the valley, there will be cloudy weather. November in Switzerland is also a month of culture. You may visit the Lantern Festival in Early November called Räbäliechtli, visit the Herbstmesse in Basel and some markets like Martinimarkt in Schaffhausen or Zibälämärit in Bern. In late November, some Christmas markets will already open up! Great chance to experience early Christmas vibes here in Switzerland. Benefit also from season break, its low season here in Switzerland. Many hotels will offer cheaper prices and you may travel around Switzerland on a budget. HOWEVER: This comes at a cost: Many hotels and restaurants will be closed! Book early to be sure to have a place to dine and stay. Some attractions will be closed too. On the other hand: You may benefit from some ski resorts already starting their Winter season! Surely, November is a very interesting Month! MUCH BETTER than many people think!

Switzerland is a rather small country but has plenty of beautiful villages. Many of them have maintained their traditional appearance, which has attracted numerous tourists from all over the world. The diversity of the Swiss villages has fascinated many visitors, whichever region you visit, the villages all look unique and different. Some people say that you only will get to feel the authentic villages, when you choose to visit one or more of the many traditional villages. But which ones are worth to visit? With this video, I proudly present you my TOP 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES OF SWITZERLAND for the year 2023 in detail. I am sure that you may be familiar with a few of these 10 villages, but the majority on this list will most likely be new to you! This is likely the most detailed travel guide video about Swiss villages here on YouTube! Wonderful Marthalen lays in northern Switzerland in Zürich’s wine land region. The village charms with its many wood frame houses and alleys. Marthalen is best to be visited during Spring and Summer, when the entire landscape shines in green. Nearby attractions would be the village of Rheinau with its monastery and the Rhine falls, Europe’s tallest river waterfall. Gandria in Ticino is a beautiful hanging fishing village just at the boarder to Italy. Gandria is best to be visited by boat from Lugano, Morcote or Porlezza. The village has numerous stairs and alleys and feels like a maze, quite exciting! Poschiavo is located in the Italian-speaking part of the canton of Graubünden. The village is rather large and the most alive among all of these villages on this Top 10 list. The village also has a very interesting history one can learn about in the three local museums. Lessoc is a rather secret village located in Fribourg. It’s less noticed due to the more famous nearby towns of Gruyères and Château d’Oex. Lessoc is great for those visitors who want to avoid crowds. Sonogno is the uppermost village in the very touristy Valle Verzasca. It’s very popular among Swiss and German visitors but remains rather unknown to the rest of the world. The village charms with its traditional stone houses and alleys. Albinen is the hidden gem of this list. It’s very similar to Grimentz but the core is larger and there are more details to discover. The village is very raw, alone this fact is a strong reason for anyone to come here. Albinen is best to be combined with nearby Leukerbad, the Swiss oasis of wellness. Morcote remains a favorite for anyone who loves alluring villages. It’s similar to Gandria but busier. Consider climbing the hill to enjoy a great vista down to the church. Lungern is probably the most popular village on this Top 10 villages list. Lungern has been admired for its green hills and turquoise lake, definitely a wonderful alpine oasis to visit. Iseltwald, the winner of Last years’ Top 10 villages list does not seize to amaze its visitors. The village is full of these wonderful wooden houses that well blend with the lake and the green hills. Iseltwald is great to be included into a holiday at Interlaken. The winner of this year’s Top 10 Swiss Villages is Bosco Gurin! This place remains very raw despite its incredible beauty! Bosco Gurin is the perfect serene village one would seek to find. Enjoy walking around in the many alleys, spotting the traditional stone and wooden houses and enjoy the alpine environment. Laufenburg is one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland… and also of Germany. How is it possible that this village is though part of two countries? Laufenburg was built at the river Rhine and has been under the rule of several powers until it ended up in today’s format. Laufenburg charms with its tranquility, the many alleys and beautiful houses. Both sides are similar, the Swiss one has though visibly more flags, while the German site does not. The two sides of Laufenburg are connected through a bridge, which allows easy switching between the two countries. Today, Laufenburg is part of Baden-Württemberg and the Canton of Aargau. The village was under the French rule, until it was then split, giving the larger part with the centre to the Canton Fricktal, which later merged into today’s canton of Aargau, while the part on the right side of the Rhine was given to the Grand-Duchy of Baden. Today, the village might be split into two countries, but feels like it was one: both sides keep the same name, Laufenburg Switzerland and Laufenburg Germany, people freely switch between both sides and the houses and image in both countries are the same. Laufenburg is perfect to combine with the nearby cities of Zürich and Basel. From Laufenburg, you even can take a train (Deutsche Bahn, that line is mostly on time) to Basel. This is the cheapest way for you to proceed from Laufenburg to Basel. There is another similar Swiss village that is also split into two parts, just further down the Rhine, you may visit Rheinfelden, that carries the same name on both sides of the river.

The Canton of Valais is one of the most visited regions of Switzerland. It’s a great place to go for a road trip. Very nice is to visit the old city of Brig with its prominent Stockalper Castle. The castle is a historic piece that today is a local tourist attraction. The Stockalper Castle charms with its many arcades and the three towers with their onion shapes domes. Definitely visit the castle, take many photos and roam around the old city of Brig. It’s in general less-touristy but the locals are going to provide some great vibes! Then head towards Saas-Fee. You may take either the bus or then ascend by car. Make sure to stop at Saas Balen. Over there are the Fellbach waterfalls, a true hidden gem of this touristy region. The Fellbachfalls easily may rank among the most beautiful waterfalls of Switzerland and serve as a great photographic spot! Head then to the village of Saas-Fee and explore the town by walk. Saas-Fee is car-free, which is the reason why there is such an authentic holiday spirit up there. The village has many traditional wooden houses, alleys, streets and even a canyon to explore. The most beautiful part of Saas-Fee is at the rock with the many old wooden houses. This part is definitely a must-visit! Take a time out at one of the many restaurants or the hotels Walliserhof or the Capra. Having a cheese fondue is quite nice, especially when sitting outside on a terrace, while watching the sunset and overseeing the village at dusk. Do explore the village of Saas-Fee during dusk and night, the colors are going to be very vibrant. Take the budget travelers option by going up to the Hannig lookout by cable car. The Hannig is a less-known tourist attraction of Saas-Fee. You will have a great view over the village, the many peaks of the Swiss Alps as well as the many glaciers present. From the Hannig, you may start a hike; going down to Saas-Fee and approaching the wall with the glaciers. Saas-Fee is considered being the village of the glaciers, thanks to which it became a tourist magnet in Switzerland. Also quite fun to try out would be the Feeblitz alpine rollercoaster, which is going to seal your trip up with some thrill! All in all, Saas-Fee is a wonderful place, it’s one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland and one of the best locations to visit in the Swiss Alps!
