Hello everyone and welcome to the 2010s! We’ve recently been through the best JRPGs of the 90s and 2000s, and now it’s time to dig into the most recent decade! This video will follow the same format, with the same rules, as my previous videos of the 90s and 2000s. So, a few days ago I had a dream that involved the announcement of Breath of Fire VI. Not that Japanese exclusive mobile crap, but a proper, modern, mainline Breath of Fire title. Unfortunately, that dream ruined my day, as it only took a few second to hit me that a real Breath of Fire 6 (or 7) is just not happening! But then I got thinking, what have all the staff been up to over the years? Why couldnt they unite for a sequel?
This video is going to take a look at what the main people behind the series have been up to. All of these talented legends played a part in the development of two or more Breath of Fire titles. We’ll start small, but then move up to those who played the most significant roles.

It’s been over 20 years since I first player Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. I was only in my teens at that point in my life, yet somehow, it feels like it was only yesterday. The characters, the music, the theme song, it all seems to familiar, which is saying a lot because I don’t remember what I had for breakfast.
There’s something special about Lunar:SSS that has stayed with me, for a large part of my life, and I can’t quite pinpoint why that is. The game was developed by Game Arts. Yup, the same studio that brought us the Grandia series. If there’s two words that I could use to sum up the Lunar SSS experience, it would be charming, and timeless!

Back in 2020, I missed the Yakuza: Like a Dragon train. You can’t play everything, and Like a Dragon unfortunately slipped through the cracks. It wasn’t until last month that I finally picked it up, to see what all the fuss was about, and I am so glad I did, because it was one hell of an experience.
The best part about waiting 3 years to play it, is that I would only have to wait a couple of weeks for its sequel: Infinite Wealth.
For a bit of context. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the 8th title in the Yakuza series, which has recently been rebranded to Like a Dragon. Infinite Wealth is a direct sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, retaining the core mechanics, and once again, featuring Ichiban as the main character.

AOE, Glass Cannon, THACO, RNG, Save Scumming. Terms like these are thrown around a lot when talking about RPGs, but what do they all mean?
This video is glossary of Role Playing Game terminology, and will look into many terms regarding sub genres, gameplay, mechanics and storytelling.

Unicorn Overlord is the latest title developed by Japanese Indi studio; Vanillaware, who, only a few years ago, created one of my favorite modern games: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Unicorn Overlord, however, is a lot different. This strategy RPG may have been overshadowed by other powerhouse games released around the same time, but I’ll tell you now, this is NOT one you should miss out on.

If you’ve been playing RPGs over the past decade, chances are that you’ve heard of Nier. I first played the sequel, Nier Automata a few years ago, and it was this masterpiece that grabbed me hook line and sinker. It was one of those games that left me wanting more, so naturally, I started looking high and low for the original Nier (which was harder than I thought).
Eventually, I gave up my search, wishing that a remaster would be announced in the future. In March 2020, my wish was granted. Nier Replicant, ver.1.22474487139 was announced as a remaster of the original game. This remaster has improvements to the visuals and gameplay, extra story content, and is now completely voice acted, and it’s these additions that make Nier Replicant the best way to play the game.

The JRPG genre has been evolving for around 40 years now. It has seen its share of ups and downs, but right now, its arguably in the best place that it has ever been. Since the early 80s, we’ve seen the releases of 1000s of JRPGs, or JRPG style titles, from hundreds of different developers, but it goes without saying that not all of them are created equally.
This series is going to look at the very best JRPGs ever made, or at least, my favorite. This is my personal top 100 JRPGs of all time!
