For some reason, the broadcast affiliate of this event decided NOT to film the BMX Vert finals of this 5 stop tour (!?!?) with their big camera team, other than "specialty shots" for B-roll.
So it was up to Paul Roberts and I to document it for the 1 minute (tops) Fuel TV Weekly Update show.
And I recall thinking, "wow this would make a great stand alone episode"-
But the powers that be of the cable channel ( that were kind enough to hire me for many years ), had no use for it.
Every time I looked at this footage it was a laugh and also just a timeless example of riders
with a very particular set of skills.
Skills they had acquired over very long careers.
Skills that represented BMX vert in the best way.
And in a very unique place in time for BMX as a whole.
Since that day, it's always been on my to-do list to cut together as a pseudo broadcast show, as opposed to just action highlights.
So, I finally started cutting this together days ago, lol (Ok, maybe 4).
I can't express enough thanks to Paul Roberts and all the riders for these very good times.
