MET - 1969 = The Woodstock Music and Art Festival is held at Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, New York, near Woodstock, New York. Performers include Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Joan Baez, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Country Joe and the Fish, Ten Years After, and Sly & the Family Stone.
BERRY LIPMAN
Berry Lipman (Friedel Berlipp) is a German bandleader, composer, arranger and producer.
His first real job as a musician was with the "Staatstheater Oldenburg" in 1945 and two years later, Lipman was hired as a composer by the Wuppertal Theatre company. A few years later, in 1952, he joined the NWDR and the SWF Koblenz as composern arranger and instrumentalist.. He also joined the Harald Banter Orchestra that same year where he played the guitar and occasionally, percussion. EMI hired Lipman in 1955 as orchestrator and composer and in that function he worked together with a.o. Gitte, Conny Froboess, Chris Howland, Lale Andersen, Cliff Richard, Charles Aznavour, Dalida and, Zarah Leander.
He was hired by Vogue in 1964 as Head of Production and produced recordings by . Petula Clark, Pat Boone, Billy Vaughn, Dionne Warwick and Jonny Teupen. He became a free music producer in 1967 and scored a worldwide hit with "Keep On Smiling" sung by James Lloyd. He then founded the Berry Lipman Orchestra and recorded several easy listening albums. The two biggest hits for the Orchestra were "Girls From Paramaribo" and "La Parranda" , both composed by Lipman himself.
In 1976, he wrote and arranged the music for the German-British TV series "Star Maidens"
IN A LITTLE SPANISH TOWN
You will surely have recognized this famous 1926 composition, written by American composer Mabel Wayne.
Mrs Wayne also composed the very famous "Ramona" and "It Happened in Monterrey". Mabel Wayne was inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972.
