We took an over-night bus from Amsterdam to Berlin where we spent two days and two nights. Berlin is a fascinating city with tons of history. At first glance you may not think much of it as it's not the prettiest in some parts, but that's because a whopping 80% of it was destroyed during World War II.
Some communist buildings still stand, but they're rare. The government even destroyed the bunker Hitler lived his last days at and died in. They paved over it and made it into a parking lot/car park so it wouldn't become a shrine to him.
We saw 2 out of the 3 remaining parts of the Berlin Wall including the East Side Gallery which is covered in amazing street art and graffiti. It's the longest stretch of wall which remains standing today at 1.3 kms or about .8 miles.
We also saw Checkpoint Charlie, the Bradenburg Gate, the Victory Column, the Soviet War Memorial and the Sinti and Roma Victims Memorial.
Lastly, we had the best apple strudel ever and some amazing bratwurste and beer!!! (^_^)
