The Last Adventurer | Berlin Ghost Town - a well-preserved ruin with ancient fossils! @TheLastAdventurer | Uploaded September 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
While Nevada has many ghost towns, none are as remote - or well preserved of that of Berlin. Founded in 1896, this boomtown was an abandoned ruin by 1911. Today, much of the town remains standing, preserved in a state of "arrested decay", just waiting for visitors to walk around and explore it. Unlike Bodie, California, there is no "curse" yet for removing objects (that I know of), but it is illegal. Visitors should exercise LNT principles when visiting this site. If the best preserved ghost town in Nevada was not a reason enough to visit Berlin, the fact that the state park also has the most ichthyosaur fossils in Nevada that can in part be viewed is also a great impetus to visit. If you go, however, be advised that Berlin is a long way from civilization - a fact that has remained consistent since 1896.
