In How to Train Your Dragon (2010), based on the book by Cressida Cowell, a young Viking named Hiccup befriends an injured dragon, defying his village’s beliefs and leading them to a new understanding of these mythical creatures.
In the Viking village of Berk, where dragons are feared and hunted, young and awkward Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) longs to prove his worth. When he unexpectedly captures a rare dragon, Toothless, Hiccup begins to realize that dragons are not the monsters his village believes them to be. As he forms a secret bond with Toothless, Hiccup learns the true nature of these creatures and finds himself at odds with his father, Stoick the Vast (voiced by Gerard Butler), who leads the dragon-hunting efforts. With the help of his friends, Astrid (voiced by America Ferrera), Snotlout (voiced by Jonah Hill), and others, Hiccup must face the greatest challenge yet to protect both his village and his new dragon companion.
This heartwarming and thrilling adventure, filled with stunning animation and epic action, explores themes of friendship, bravery, and breaking down misconceptions.
