The 20-story, Beirut Hilton Hotel, which was built in 1975 but never occupied, was demolished using implosion methods, on Sunday, July 14, 2002. The demolition was conducted by Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, and Optimal Engineering Consulting & Contracting SARL (OECC) of Antelias, Lebanon.
