Webb's mirrors capture and direct light from the distant universe to create the telescope's images. Webb's primary mirror — with its vast expanse made up of 18 segments — gets most of the attention, but several more mirrors help control the flow of light through the telescope. Webb has a secondary, tertiary, and fine-steering mirror, each appropriately shaped for the action it must undertake. The mirrors' ultimate goal is to get the light to the telescope's detectors in order to record and translate it into imagery.

The universe never wastes anything, its kind of like a cosmic recycler. All your atoms and molecules were created inside a previous generation of stars. The life cycle of star allows for new beginnings. So, even if you step into a new chapter, your old life hasnt been wasted. It helps you shine even brighter 💫
Rho Ophiuchi, seen here, is the closest-star-forming region to Earth. Webb spotted around 50 young stars, many close in mass to our star, giving us a glimpse into the early life of the Sun. Dark, dense dust cocoons still-forming protostars, while an emerging stellar newborn (top center) shoots out two huge jets of molecular hydrogen.
Webb’s ability to capture the universe in high-resolution, from early distant galaxies to the solar system we call home, is allowing us to better understand our own origins.

00:00-00:20 : The video begins with a slow zoom into the Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex. This is a region of gas, dust, and white/blue stars covering the screen. The top half of the screen showcases purple and pink gas and dust, whereas the bottom half shows light tan and orange gas and dust. White text fades onto the screen reading Feeling stuck?/Lets escape into the universe together. The video zooms further into the purple/pink clouds while text reads We are going to take three deep breaths together/Follow my lead.
00:20-01:12 : A four-colored circle (pink, dark purple, light tan, and burnt orange) appears on the screen. In the middle of the circle is white text counting to four. In the first four seconds, the circle grows, almost looking like the circle is breathing. White glow text appears above the circle that reads Inhale. In next four seconds, the text reads Hold. The next four seconds have the circle decreasing in size slightly and the text reads Exhale. The text reads Hold for the next four seconds. This pattern happens another two times, then fading out. During this pattern, the image sweeps into the red/orange colored jet stream and zooms into light tan gas and dust.
01:12- 02:05 : The camera pans over the light tan gas and dust to showcase a white star with six points extending the reach of the screen. It then pans back to the pink/purple gas and dust to showcase another jet stream, colored a deep red. The video zooms out to showcase the entire image. During this exploration of the image, white text fades onto the screen reading The Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex is filled with gas and dust from generations and generations of stars/Without this gas and dust, beautiful new stars wouldnt be able to form in this stellar nursery/Your old life was needed to help you flourish into the person you are today/So, just like the stars, even the darkness has a purpose…/…to help you shine brighter. The text fades away and four seconds later the image fades to black.
02:05-02:15 : The JWST logo appears, which reads, “Webb Space Telescope,” positioned to the right of an animation of JWST with reflective gold particles floating across the frame. The NASA meatball logo appears as a blue circle with “NASA” written across it, stars that dot the perimeter, and an animation of red and white slashes swoop across the logo.
