In 2017, Big Ben bonged for the final time. The Elizabeth Tower, great clock and bells are undergoing a major restoration project, which will take four years to complete. But this doesn't mean total silence until 2021, as engineers have discovered a solution to ring the bell on special occasions, such as state funerals and New Year's Eve. Keeper of the clocks, Steve Jaggs reveals all the secrets behind the iconic London landmark to Londonist.
