While the broader @zermatt.matterhorn ski area isn’t ideal for expert thrill-seekers, it’s not particularly beginner-friendly either. The resort does offer some easier, blue-rated runs, but it’s not designed around them. Despite solid beginner zones in the Sunnegga, Rothorn, Gornergrat, and Val Tòsh sectors, none of these areas offer an easy way to ski down to the base.
In other words, guests who aren’t comfortable on red (intermediate) runs will need to download via gondola or lift to exit the resort. In fact, the Vania area is the only part of the ski domain where beginners can ski all the way to the bottom on green or blue-rated pistes.
Additionally, the beginner trails across these four sectors aren’t interconnected by easy terrain. To move between them, skiers must take at least one red-rated run.
