Ready to play some fingerstyle funk? This piece has been written for bass players who are comfortable with the basic mechanics of the technique. It was written in the style of legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius and was inspired by a piece called âThe Chickenâ. Although originally written by Pee Wee Ellis, this track became one of Jacoâs signature tunes. Whilst the majority of Jacoâs work is very advanced, this study piece has been written to act as an introduction to his style of playing.
đ¸ What You'll Learn:
⢠Using Ghost Notes: ghost notes are an essential ingredient in funk lines, but theyâre very simple to use
⢠Raking Technique: this technique is a big part of playing fingerstyle lines â it feels very natural and itâs likely that youâre using it already!
⢠Syncopation: this piece contains some more complex, syncopated rhythms. Many of these are repeated several times in the piece, meaning that youâll quickly get to grips with them.
