A lot of people have asked us if it ever snows in Kyoto. Well, the answer is "yes", and when it does it’s absolutely beautiful! Though somewhat uncommon in the city center, you're more likely to experience a snowy Kyoto in the northern areas, such as Kibune village. However, due to the warmer weather this year, even Kibune, which usually gets covered in a blanket of snow, has only seen brief snowfall.
A couple of years ago we were lucky enough to capture the exquisite sight of snow-covered Kifune Shrine, and we are excited to share the winter magic with you all now. If you are looking to experience a sparkling white Kyoto, the coldest months are January and February. We can’t guarantee it will snow while you're here, but we can guarantee that if it does you won't ever forget it!
