In an era where the battlefield has expanded into the digital sphere, journalists in MENA conflict zones face unprecedented threats to their safety, integrity and ability to report. The panel brings together frontline reporters and media leaders to explain how journalists in these conflicts are reporting the wars they are living. From Gaza’s targeted media infrastructure, smearing journalists and killing them to the silencing of journalists in Sudan and Yemen, the panel will explore the evolving landscape of conflict reporting—where surveillance drones, cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns have become new weapons of war and how local and international journalists, if allowed in, navigate these perils, document atrocities in real time and forge cross-border collaborations to keep the truth alive. What are the personal and collective costs of this work? How do journalists preserve credibility and safety when truth itself is under siege? Moderated by Sara Qudah.
