A discussion on cross-border support for independent public-interest media, using Reference as the European network case and Report for the World as the global service model. This panel will:
- Explore how collaborative networks like Reference are helping independent European publishers tackle sustainability, capacity-building, and non-editorial challenges together.
- Show how service programmes like Report for the World match local newsrooms with dedicated reporters and provide salary support and training to strengthen coverage of under-reported issues worldwide.
- Draw out concrete lessons on governance, fundraising, and newsroom relations that festival participants can apply when designing funds, networks, or reporting programmes in their own regions. Moderated by Cecilia Anesi. Organised in association with Reference - The European Independent Media Circle and Report for the World.
