This was the fourth railroad crossing I recorded on August 1, 2024. After getting Chavis Road near Kittrell in action, I made my way up to Henderson, NC for Bear Pond Road as the next crossing I am willing to record, simply because of this being a late SBD install! This would be the farthest I would go on the Norlina Sub that day because 1, the local made it as far to here, 2, the line currently terminates outside of Norlina, for now, as both North Carolina and Virginia are working on restoring this line for a future high speed rail service in the next few years, and 3, it wouldn't be until later tonight that I would snatch another crossing and call it the end of the day.
Oh and I didn't expect this crossing to still have an incandescent light, as this is a very rare sight on CSX in North Carolina; as most CSX crossings have been upgraded to LEDs even as far back as the late 2010s.
Crossing info:
Signal on the left: 1 - 12"x24" US&S incandescent, 1 - 12"x24" Modern Industries w/ Leotek EV series LED, 2 - 12"x24" WCH w/ Leotek EV series LEDs, a WCH Style 3 gate mechanism, 4" RECO LED gatelights, and a WCH 2nd Gen. Mechanical Bell
Signal on the right: 4 - 12"x24" WCH w/ Leotek EV series LEDs, a WCH Style 3 gate mechanism, 4" RECO LED gatelights, and a WCH 2nd Gen. Mechanical Bell
Location:
Bear Pond Road
Henderson, North Carolina
Locomotives:
CSX 6461 - GP40-2
CSX 2610 - GP38-2
