Recent changes to the old tried-and-true Taiwan-made silent damper cap for the British Military #12 have resulted in new cap owners being very dissatisfied with the performance of the new-version cap. Apparently, the original outer caps used on these have become unavailable. The Taiwan seller is substituting outer caps of lesser quality and inappropriate dimensions. In a nutshell... they don't work unless you use the supplied jet with its smaller orifice to reduce the power of the #12 so it will work with the mis-matched Taiwan cap. 😞
I volunteered to see if something could be done to modify the Taiwan cap so that it would work properly with the #12 stove without depowering the stove. Here's my report on my success with modifications. 🥳👏😊
