In 2020 I read a total of 65 books, plays and other works
My best reading month was July with 10 books
My worst reading months were September and November, I finished only 1 book in each
I averaged around 5 books per month, to meet my 2021 target I will need to increase that to at least 8

Authors
33 books I read were written by women. My best book by a woman, about women was The Housekeeper's Tale by Tessa Boase
32 were written by men. My best male author/male main character was Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
I didn’t record any authors who were non-binary or LGBT+
11 were written by non-white authors. My best book by a non-white author, with a non-white main character was An Unnecessary Woman by Rabih Alameddine

Types of book
15 were non-fiction. My best work of non-fiction was The Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain. I also read a lot of academic articles.
13 were plays or poetry. My best play was possibly Nine Night by Natasha Gordon. I also read a lot of one-off poems - my best one off poem was Crossing the Bar by Alfred Lord Tennyson
17 were works of modern fiction post 1960. My best work of modern fiction was Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
21 were pre-1960 classics. My best non-reread classic was Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy
6 were works of ancient literature pre-Shakespeare. My best work of ancient literature was The Odyssey by Homer
23 were shorter works including plays, sagas, short stories not in collections and essays. My best shorter work was A Grief Observed by CS Lewis

Reading experience
13 books were rereads. My best rereading experience was Translations by Brian Friel
8 were audiobooks. My best audiobook experience was The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein narrated by Andy Serkis
12 were translated. My best translated work was Vita Nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko.
