In 2012, a devastating outbreak of #armyworms swept across #Zambia, damaging almost 100,000 hectares of #agricultural land and spreading to five other countries by January 2013.

In this video diary, Professor Kenneth Wilson from Lancaster University shares his experience of visiting Zambia to meet with Vice President Dr Guy Scott and discuss new research funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).

The research involves the use of a natural #virus that can be produced locally, reducing or eliminating the need for expensive imported chemical #pesticides. By implementing this innovative approach, #farmers in Zambia could see a significant reduction in the impact of armyworms on their #crops .
