BattleTech Warships: The Dart Class Light Cruiser
The Dart-class cruiser was built for a role no battleship could fill: speed, independence, and flexibility. Developed by Di Tron Heavy Industries for the Terran Alliance Navy, the Dart became one of the first true multi-purpose WarShips—able to fight, explore, and sustain long missions far from friendly support.
With large cargo capacity, durable Century 4000 maneuver drives, and reinforced structure, the Dart-class was engineered for survival at the edges of known space. Later refitted with six DropShip collars, it carried troops, supplies, and even marines into battle. Armed with a mix of naval lasers, PPCs, autocannons, and missile systems, the cruiser was designed to challenge larger opponents—but remained vulnerable to aerospace fighters due to its lack of a dedicated screen.
