The Battlefield V Open Beta is now open to everyone, even those who haven't pre-ordered, and that means that it's time for me to test the game to see how well it performs on my system.

After playing a few matches at the default graphical preset, ultra, I noted a few problems; Firstly the VRAM was maxing out intruding some stutter, secondly the framerate was constantly sub 60fps, and lastly, that the CPU usage was extremely high.

After switching to the lowest preset and disabling Vsync, while I noted an improvement to both stuttering and framerate, the CPU usage climbed along with it- To the point where I would consider this games performance to be bottlenecked by a 4 core 8 thread CPU. Meaning that while obtaining 60fps with this hardware is possible, it can still dip into the 50s.

CPU load seems higher than with Battlefield 1, and other Battlefield titles for that matter. A faster quadcore CPU might fair better than the i7-7700hq @ 3.4GHz, but I would say that, at least in the mobile space, a good 8th generation hex core system should fair much better with this title.

Settings:

DX11, Motion Blur at ~20%, 1080p (100% Render Scale), Vsync Off, 'Low Preset'.
