When Battlefield Hardline came out back in 2015 in my opinion it was a rather interesting entry in the Battlefield franchise, instead of the usual military themed setting their prior games had, this one mixed in an interesting concept of Cops and robbers with a rather cool storyline, which is why some of the Battlefield players and veterans did not liked this game back then, that is until Battlefield 2042 came into existence..
I had fun with BF Hardline and its multiplayer, so the idea of the game being fit into a BF2 mod wasn't so bad at all, so here it is, BF Hardline for BF2!
Starting with the PRESENTATION:
- The mod has its own unique UI and HUD, which at first looks kinda cool, but unfortunately it has some serious flaws, starting with the In-game text messages on the left of the screen, they look so blurry which can make visual clarity in this mod a mess when you try to concentrate your shots on the enemy, that needs to be fixed as this can be quite..an eyesore.
- Another issue i have with the UI is the blood on the screen when getting shot, which seemengly uses the Project reality bloody screen layout, it takes forever for it to go away when you get hit and you'll get hit a lot in this mod, Again, this makes visual clarity suffer and can blind you in the worst times, getting you instantly killed in the process.
Next, SOUND EFFECTS:
- Voicelines in this mod are a mix of Vanilla BF2, and the Hardline base game, there's no much to say about this department, however, i would not reccomend playing on the smaller infantry type maps as you may hear the same "MEDIC!" "I NEED A MEDIC" voicelines may too often than you should be and this becomes repetitive and maddening.
As for MAPS:
-You get 15 maps in this mod, ranging from BF2142 maps to some handcrafted others like the prision break map (the first map that i played in this gameplay video, which unfortunately, its the worst one of the whole batch), interestingly the larger combined arms maps like Belgrade and others offer some rather interesting vehicle choices, from street motorbikes and super charged sports cars to police helicopters and armed SUV's.
I found myself using the sports cars more often for the sake of having fun with them in crazy races around the Belgrade city map.
Last but not least, WEAPONS.
-Im surprised to see new weapon models for a change, instead of the usual Develop013's BF3/4 weapon models we usually see in many mods, the Mod dev actually used BF Hardline weapon models into the game, and they do look kinda cool with Skins from the game, although some of them seem to reuse the same reload animations (more especifically on the Police forces team)
OVERALL:
-BF Hardline mod for BF2 feels, slightly good and decent to play, with some flaws here and there, but its worth the try.
FINAL VEREDICT: 6/10
SIDENOTE: (If it wasn't for the cool vehicles, it woulda' been a 5/10)
