NintendoComplete | ♫BATTLE (Wizardry I・II, PCE CD) SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete @NintendoComplete | Uploaded 6 months ago | Updated 11 hours ago
This is an arrangement of the battle theme from Naxat's 1993 PC Engine Super CD-ROM² game, Wizardy I-II (ウィザードリィI・II).
There are two versions of the song in this video. The first is my arrangement of the game's Redbook CD version of the theme, and the second, beginning at 2:15, is my attempt to recreate the sound of the PSG version on the SNES's sound chip. Both were made for native playback on original console hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model North American SNES deck. The video footage was recorded from the Super Famicom version of the game.
For the sake of comparison, you can hear the original CD version of the track at youtu.be/GvW7k2_ufIc and the PSG version at youtu.be/2CWn7gREbQU
Unlike most ports of Wizardry, the music written for the PC Engine sounds nothing like the NES games, and it's awesome. I love this theme!
Thanks for listening!
If you'd like to hear any of my other arrangements, I have a playlist of them here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3gSj_kh1fHueSujqQR8xQQ84DWIjrU4F&si=q7yxSFcOnwnaXrBP
