I review the Warner studio label's recent release of the iconic MASK OF THE PHANTASM on 4K UHD. While thankfully this avoids the many issues of their dreadful Blu-ray release of the landmark animated series on Blu-ray-it does share much of the corner cutting the studio label frequently does with their catalog 4K UHD titles. There is no alternate aspect ratio presentation, the trailer is gone, only one new featurette, lackluster encoding, HDR pop out moments, the audio remix is less dynamic, the Laserdisc still has the best audio and the UHD itself is HDR10 while the streaming version is in Dolby Vision.
