In Darkest Knight. In this universe, Abin Sur instead crashes in front of Wayne Manor, his image appearing in front of an injured Bruce, who rushes outside to see the dying Green Lantern. Abin heals Bruce's injuries then passes on his ring and lantern, saying he'll soon receive guidance before he too passes on. Bruce accepts the responsibility and demonstrates his fast learning by using the ring to hide Abin Sur's body and ship in a nearby cave, reciting the oath to induct him into the corps. During a robbery at the Gotham Chemical Plant, Bruce makes his first public appearance, using the ring to deflect bullets and seize the gang led by Red Hood. A yellow gas briefly nullifies his powers, but he's able to recover and protect himself and the gang from a giant explosion, before turning them over to Commissioner Gordon and introducing himself as Green Lantern. He also unmasks Red Hood, who he unknowingly prevented from becoming The Joker. Later, Bruce is contacted by the Guardians of the Universe, who summon him to the planet Korugar to subdue the rogue Green Lantern Sinestro. He arrives on the planet avoiding Sinestro's yellow laser trap, and angering him enough to pursue Bruce, causing massive destruction across the world, before Bruce turns the laser trap on Sinestro, knocking him out. The population then proceed to name Bruce their new leader, but Katma Tui, who would have been the one to rebel against Sinestro, steps forward and tells them to knock it off, an impressed Bruce naming her the new Green Lantern of the sector. He's lectured by the Guardians for his hasty decision when he reaches Oa, but it's tabled as they exile Sinestro to the antimatter zone, Sinestro vowing vengeance on Bruce. Later, Bruce consults with Gordon on where he can find a certain gunman, but Gordon refuses to help a vigilante with power such as his and Bruce goes home. Gordon begins his own investigation into the shootings to deduce why Bruce might have such an interest in it, when he's suddenly approached by the now Yellow Lantern Sinestro, who takes over the investigation before killing Gordon. He then appears before Joe Chill as a young Bruce, his fear confirming Bruce is indeed Green Lantern before Sinestro drains his mind, also killing him. Bruce meets with Harvey Dent at Gordon's crime scene, and as they go through the last case Gordon was looking into, Bruce recognizes the face of Joe Chill, tracking him down to find him dead and a trace of a yellow aura around him. Confirmed to be Sinestro's new power by the being himself appearing and attacking, also revealing that Sinestro had absorbed Joe Chill's personality into his own, causing it to split. They fight throughout the city, Sinestro literally arguing with himself, but Bruce eventually forces him to flee, while he cleans up the mess they had made below. Their future conflicts continued in the next part.
