The next step in the basement project is installing the first shelf and drawer supports. In this woodworking project I show you how to install the shelves that I have been making from the old glulam beams. The bottom shelf that I first installed is a wider shelf that will be the top of a row of drawers. Instead of making cabinet boxes for the drawers I made simple vertical supports to go under the wide shelf. They will serve as both support for the shelf and provide a place to hang the drawer slides. This allowed me to straighten the wall out with the structure of the shelves as the largest pieces of structure in the system are the shelves themselves.
