My video shows the new “Banished” Haunt Zone with Exclusive Backstory audio at Cedar Point Haunt at HalloWeekends on Frontier Trail 2021. The 2.5min interesting backstory is well-read. It was recorded with my camcorder for 20min standing underneath a small speaker at the tunnel entrance at the end of the night. I layered it in iMovie to find the parts without ambient noise resulting in five sections spliced together. It turned out very well. However, you can’t hear it very well during haunt zone hours. I thought is was a PSA. I’m glad I walked past it at closing. That’s how I’m confident it’s exclusive.
The video is in two sections. In the first, audio is combined with lowered volume Screamster footage. In the second, the Screamsters and Sliders are without the backstory.

This was quite a free video effort. It was fun to do as a document as part of Cedar Point Haunt at HalloWeekends. I hand’t shot this zone this extensively since 2006-2008 and 2010 with Cyrus when it was named “The Fright Zone”. Those videos are on my playlist below. I have an an affinity for Frontier Trail and the original Fight Zone I recorded in the past.
It’s a good theme for a Frontier Trail zone. Interesting Screamster characters, sliders, costumes, makeup. atmosphere, props, lighting and performances gave me something interesting to work with. The Banished logo and type Font is well done. I created the title screens.
A video like this won’t make much YouTube AdSense earnings approx. 50-cents. No joke. So please Share, Like, Comment, Subscribe, watch other videos and click on Ads even to skip them etc. That helps. This is more interesting if not esoteric than a lot of videos. I like to see the number of view counts and Likes go up if nothing else.
Here’s how it was shot for informational purposes and for my own records:
Sep 24 [The bulk of the footage of Screamsters and Fort Sandusky & a 1500 watt fog machine (I asked a tech). I didn’t know how it would be edited. I stood in front of the fort behind the canon and then on the perimeter of the zone to have fun getting good shots. I hadn’t seen this zone in action before. There was no Call of the Scare gathering of Screamsters from every zone and house this season that park visitors have seen in the past that’s on my channel. The Banished Screamsters gathered in the fort prior to 8pm. I recorded them from 8-8:30pm. This video could have been longer but it highlights the best parts of those Screasmsters. The Screamsters on subsequent nights I shot in one take as I walked thru the zone. If I missed any I unfortunately didn’t see them or they weren’t there]
Oct 1 [Pumpkinhead scarecrows–is what I call them–which weren’t all there during the first night, bungee jumper in one take, Fort Sandusky Screamster actor–all I shot is what’s in the video–and the Banished promo on Hotel Breakers info monitor screen]
Oct 8 [The Banished backstory audio was edited from five sections due to the noise from park guests and employees walking thru the tunnel, Millennium Force and loudspeaker music. The view of distant lightning behind the Slaughterhouse Haunted Maze was serendipitous. The camera was pointed at the entrance for just that amount of time]
Oct 17 [“Banished” tunnel entrance sign and pumpkinhead scarecrow with Millennium Force after the zone was closed for the night. I never get to Cedar Point early. I always stay late.]
Oct 22 [A couple of Screamsters toward the end of the night]
The edited audio track was laid down first in iMovie. Then the Canon R400 1080P60 video clips were added from the footage to fit with what I interpreted what the backstory was telling. It was relatively easy to put together. Then it took time to finesse and do the title screens. That’s where the effort comes in. But it was fun.

Malevolent beings from the nearby wilderness invade to seek revenge on the panicked townsfolk who betrayed them. Become part of the terror as fear comes easily to those who venture onto Banished’s haunted trails.”
