How to Pack:
Pack bare minimum if you like shopping!
All summer clothing!! It’s HOT all day and night. Stuff you can just throw on.
Swimsuit everyday! This is pretty much all you wear.
You never do your hair
Flip flops everywhere (maybe bring only one pair of tennis shoes if you plan to hike but even the hikes I went on it’s better to wear flip flops. I never wore my tennis shoes.)
Water shoes (for Kelingking Beach and waterfall hikes)
Sarong
Small backpack
All toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc)
ONLY the sweatshirt/jacket you are wearing on the plane and nothing else. I brought 4 too many and never wore them once!! The only one I wore was a light jean jacket ONE evening and that’s it.
Yoga clothes! Maybe 4 pants and 4 bras.
Water bottle!! Save the environment!
Get bug spray as soon as you are there. They have the best kind: Soffell (I like the lotion not the spray)
TIPS:
Best months to go: March, April, October, November. Rainy season starts in Nov and is in full swing Dec-Feb. Summer will be super busy and crowded.
Where to go: Ubud, Uluwatu, Nusa Penida, Canggu
Re: Jet Lag... did not experience any jet lag when I got there because I slept 14 hours on the flight over. If you can sleep on the flight there it will really help!! Especially if your flight is overnight.
Go for AT LEAST 14 FULL DAYS!! Trust me on this. The longer you can stay, the better.
You can budget $100-200 per day per person (including hotel stay).
Get a SIM card. Even though there is WiFi everywhere, you’ll want a local number. If traveling in a group, just have one person get one.
Download Go Jek and Grab apps on your phone and sign up using your Indonesian number. This is like Uber and is SUPER useful. Even though it’s cheap renting a scooter, I don’t recommend it. Go Jek and Grab is just as cheap!!!
Don’t drink the water and be very careful where you eat any raw veggies/fruit.
Get a designated DRIVER. Made is amazing— highly recommend. Amazing heart and so kind and giving. To use for entire day only $600K (~$40).
Go to a SPA! You can get like 2 hours of amazing spa treatments (massage, facial, etc) for ~$40!
