Even recently, I’ve had (Naomi) moments while working with clients that triggered memories in my own mind—little “pings” of teachings I’d forgotten I’d been told. Not from my upbringing, but from just a few years in a church in my mid-20s. And yet, those teachings had been lying there dormant. Fortunately, when these 'pings' happen, we can know to question them and make changes where needed.

Bad theology can be subtle, but their effect is profound. It can stick with us long after we’ve left abusive environments, shaping our behavior and thoughts in ways we don’t always recognize.
