I call this the "soda monster" because the contraption scavenges for soda bottles, drinks the soda out of them, and then poops out the empty bottles (skip to 1:45).
The leading drive wheel and airfoil scoop soda bottles off the ground and into a spring, which is then lifted overhead by the helicopter rotor so that the bottle drops into a collection chamber. When the chamber is full, the bottles start to press against the drive wheel in the back, which then ejects a bottle out the other end. Sometimes the soda bottles become stuck, so I include a upper propeller to help loosen the rear spring to enable passage. The lower umbrella can also expand to compress the bottles for ejection.
The upper umbrella is used only to slow the decent of the lifting arm, and it is not at all critical. The inverted helicopter rotor and propeller are used as brakes to hold the vehicle in place as the arm is lifted. The single wooden box offers a little more flexibility to the chassis so that the braking action is enhanced. The rear propeller is used for backing up, if needed.
